Why have socialised heath care when I can get heath care for my kids when I make almost 50k a year?

  1. I suppose it's a way of thinking about the world. In USA it seems many think that so long as they are OK, then who cares about the poor people. People in other places, and many USA folks, see it as a chance to raise the level of health care for the whole nation- that helps you in terms of increased productivity, lower crime, etc as well as protecting you from disaster.


  2. What would you do if, through no fault of your own, you lost your job and became long term unemployed and your kid needed medicines and doctors that you couldn't afford? You'd probably wish for a good socialised health care system to fall back on and be happy to pay some taxes towards it when you got back on your feet. It's not all just about you and your kids... it's about everyone in society looking out for each other to ensure we all have a nicer society for everyone to live in.

    Thank goodness for Medicare in Australia.

  3. because the politicians want to spend your tax dollars in a way that will get them votes-saying its a RIGHT
