Why have sport insurance apart from a financial safety net when injured abroad?

  2. All insurance is ‘just’ a financial safety net, so if you don’t want that safety net, no there’s reason for having it. That applies to any insurance for anything really.

    If you get injured whilst taking part in a sporting activity, the policy will cover your medical and associated costs.

    I think most standard travel policies exclude this kind of injury so if you plan to do anything sporty on your travels you’d be wise to make sure you are covered. However, if you plan to just sit on the beach reading Barbara Cartland novels, sport insurance would indeed be pointless as ….. well, a Barbara Cartland novel.
