Why have the Queensland Reds been so bad for so long!?

They're about the only team in the Super 14 not to have made a final.

Look after the young players coming through the grades. Retain the good players. Recruit a couple of good players each season. Queensland always seems to develop some nice young talent but they let them go.

The Queensland Reds have not performed for a while because they have had dud coaches and also very poor recruitment programs .. They let good players head off to other franchises due to player / coach conflicts ..

Huxley and Mitchell are just two examples ..

For a considerably long time Queensland haven't had the fire power required to succeed in the Super 14. You need players who can play & win and you need coaches who can take you to those victories.

An unguided team doesn't really go anywhere does it?

They made the finals in 2001 only to be beaten by the ACT Brumbies in Canberra.  They can't seem to hold onot their players with many seeking opportunities with other Super 14 teams.  The Western Force pillaged them to commence their initial season.

Berrick Barnes has a great future.  Hopefully, he can come to the ACT and replace Bernie Larkham
