  1. The Mummy was a pretty good movie when it came out.  Not Citizen Kane  by any standards, but an OK action movie with a decent plot and some memorable lines.  They should have left it at that.

Mummy Returns was pointless, predictable, and a waste of time.  The third one is not much better.  The two sequels rely too much on effects and don't have much of a plot, plus Mummy 3 doesn't have Rachel Weisz and there's no chemistry between the replacement actress and Brendan Fraser, making the movie even weaker.

I don't always agree with the critics, but I do on these.

  2. i love the series too, critics just nit pick everything they dont understand that some movies are just for fun and dont have place for character development...whatever who cares as long as the movies are pulling in huge cash right?

  3. Because they rely on explosions instead of plot, and CGI effects instead of interesting characters.  Just like Batman, or the Hulk, or Ironman, or the last two Spidermans, or Transformers, or...

  4. it's weird. but the critics like moviegoers base films on opinion. critics try to base it on both theirs and the opinion of others. they know the series'll make money is the thing. don't follow critic's or anyone else's judgement but your own.
