Why have there not been any field archaeological investigations conducted in the Sundaland?

There have been advanced speculations, some of which are believed to be more than plausible, that there may have been early civilizations dating back to the last Ice Age in the tropical regions of the world that today are mostly underwater, e.g., Sundaland and other places. With all the speculation, why has there been no actual investigation to support or refute them? Why has there been no underwater exploration, digging, etc.? One would imagine that it would receive at least a little focus...

  2. Prohibitavely expensive, especially when you consider the water will have damaged everything, or broken it down.
