How often have you heard him sing the praises of freedom?

Do you think for one moment that this man has any true affection for the free market?

I thank you in advance for your intelligent responses!

  1. He's running for President of the United States.  When the federal government starts running properly again under Democratic leadership, local and state governments will be strenghtened and will flourish again.

  2. Why have we not heard from you how the republicans want big government telling you what to do with your body and what you should think in our public schools?

Doesn't that bother you just a h**l of a lot?

    It should.

    Peace

    Jim

PS Palin wants religion in our public schools and abortion outlawed even in the case of rape and incest.  When your 12 year old relative gets raped and pregnant, and your son comes home pointing his head east on a prayer rug because Muslims (and devil worshipers) demanded equal access, I'll bet you a million bucks you'll be screaming that the government has no right!

    EDIT

Thumbs down from the "I want big government telling me what to do"  crowd.  Why to go!

  3. He is a liberal democrat. That's your answer short and sweet in a nut shell.

  4. You're really a guy, aren't you?

  5. Obama is a liberal of a differnet color, and, no pun at all intended.

I seriously doubt, and there is some evidence of this, that Obama notes that the economic strides accomplished in America in the last generation is to be set aside and ignored.  He did state in a thoughtful interview, that he felt Reagan placed the country in a direction that was new and decisive.

Hillary picked up on this and slammed Obama during the nomination season.  Obama backpeddled, but really, he meant what he said, now, what does this mean financially and in regards to the Reagan cry of smaller government?

    Well, here is my take.

Liberalism does want the power of the federal government to be used for the betterment of people's lives.  I believe Obama understands this, and, that it can be used, federal power that is, effectively.

I do not think Obama can be colored a 60's liberal at all.  Obama is not a fool, and would understand, that power must be wielded effectively, that is, to take into account fiscal responsibility.

Will he as a potential President?  I don't know.  Someone, anyone, needs to balance the annual federal budget.  This is the weakest link to today's conservatism: no Republican President since 1980 has had one balanced federal annual budget.  This is unpardonable.

Saying smaller government! and strapping down the dollar with tax cuts that devalue the dollar is absurd!

It is time for Republicans to live in the real world, and face that unless tremendous budget cuts are enforced, and, or, taxes are increased, to balance the budget, the dollar will continue its fall.

Does Obama, or McCain have the will to do this, or, recognize the problem?

Right now, my money is on McCain to do this, but, McCain's support now, not then, of the Bush tax cuts spells political expediency.

We need a wise leader that does put long term healthy goals ahead of party and popularity, now, the question becomes, is it Obama or McCain?

    Stay tuned...

  6. Well, maybe because increasing the powers of corrupt, inept and repetitious local governments is not a wise idea, especially in context of globalism.

  7. Apparently that is not his belief.  He is inclined to think it is the Federal Governments responsibility to handle issues.

    I am inclined to disagree.

  8. "Why have we never heard Obama talk about strengthening local government and weakening federal government?"

No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear........

"Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force."

    George Washington

    Undecided - Independent

  9. Because he is a typical liberal democrat in that he believes in tax and spend

  10. How can you POSSIBLY say the phrase "free market" with a straight face??

Can someone in the audience PLEASE explain to me how the Far Right is capable of this "selective memory" thing? Can you explain to me how they are able to push aside the reality of BILLIONS AND BILLIONS AND BILLIONS of tax dollars going into the predatory lending mortgage industry in bail-outs, into Freddie Mac and Ginnie Mae? Which are PRIVATE companies? Would you please explain to me how "free market" is compatible with handing over BILLIONS of my tax dollars to the most successful company in the History of Man? EXXON?

Would you please explain to me how "free market" figures into a system where WalMart comes into town and railroads the local City Council and County Commissioners into actually using TAX DOLLARS to pay for its additional sewage needs, traffic-controlling measures, extra lanes in roads? HOW is that "free market?"

How dare you say "free market."

As for "strengthening local government and weakening federal government" you've got one heckuva nerve. I know perfectly well that you are aware that George W. Bush has grown the Federal Government to the LARGEST SIZE OF ANY ADMINISTRATION BEFORE HIM.

    Please.

Please can someone in the audience EXPLAIN it to me? How these people are able to simply deny the facts?

    I don't get it.

And as for "singing the praises of freedom?"

Are you trying to make me hurl first thing in the morning?

Democrats don't go much for rhetoric - we're concerned with actual results.

  11. Strengthening ?, weakening?, Praising freedom?  Affection  for free market? (whatever all these claims  mean) Seems that you only hear what you want to hear!

  12. Because he is not a true conservative

The only true conservative in the whole primary season was Ron Paul

A conservative stands for fiscal responsibility,a decrease in federal over site in local affairs and is socially centre. We haven't had one of those in a while and Sen. Obama isn't going to break the cycle.......

  13. what exactly have the republicans done to weaken the federal government. they have used the contracts to loot both the us and iraqi nations but looting is not a good way to weaken anything since that brings down all but the looters.

  14. seriously I don't have the answer. I'am aghast at the medias love for this inexperienced person and of the young people without a clear idea of what socialism is trying to vote him in.

I only heared one time where he addressed the Pledge of Allegiance and that was only after he was called out on it by a reporter at a townhall meeting, when the crowd got ugly he quickly had the man lead it's reciting but he wouldn't lead it.

  15. That is the opposite of the democratic platform, which is big government taking care of the masses. (kind of like socialism but with more taxes)
