Question:

Why have women from North learned how to do everything (get education, job, status, manners) but not smile?

Every time I up in New England or worse yet, Canada, I look at women in campuses, streets, busstops, hotel... They look very accomplished but very dry, cold, and unfeminine... Whereas when I return to Cali or go to Florida, women smile at you with beautiful s**y smile everywhere... even though they may not be that advanced... Why is that?

  1. Smiling can be a sign of submission. Women and men who are upper class, or have a higher social status are less likely to smile.

  2. Why does it matter to you?

Are you so needy that you feel slighted if some random person doesn't smile at you?

    Self-centered prick.

  3. Im from the northeast, my husband is from the northwest. When I brought him home to meet the family his first Question was "Why do all the people here look so pissed off?"

I got nicer and smile at people more after spending some time in the South. Down their even insults are delivered with a smile. They'll say what they think and follow it with a smile and "Bless your heart" Sorta like this "That baby sure is ugly, Bless its little heart" You usually don't realize you've been insulted until you walk away.

  4. Frankly, and this is just what I've found to be the case from living all throughout different regions in the US, women in the South are, in my PERSONAL experience, more charming, more friendly, and have a better sense of humour.  It was never an issue in the Southeast US to have a gorgeous girl smile at me, it just seemed to be normal etiquette.  In the North, it's like a different ballgame from what I've seen.  It's almost as if women suppress any attempt to acknowledge me, and I certainly haven't changed my looks nor my behaviour.  I've been to Montreal and Vancouver  and there were a lot of hot women who seemed to be quite nice, but I've not been in any romantic relationships with women in Canada nor can I comment on their nature as I simply haven't had enough time to really understand how things work.  But in my experience, women in the NE US are the most unfriendly toward me, and I don't know the reason for this.

At the same time, the moment such women in the NE US see opportunity for financial gain at my expense of any indication of wealth, there's a sudden change in their behaviour.  It's interesting how money or the perception of wealth seems to have this effect on people.

  5. Smiling serves no purpose. I hate doing it. Don't ask me to.

Most people in the north (US, anyway) are highly unpleasant. Male and female. Especially as customers.

  6. Except for a few women, they end up finding out that working ultimately sucks.  Thus, not so happy.

Not to mention, with all the time spent at work, she may have no man to smile about.

  7. Why do you care how people comport themselves?

They aren't just a display case for your viewing pleasure, you know!

    Cheers :-)

  8. Well, Im sorry but this is a "duh" answer.

Did it ever occur to you that Calif and Flo get a lot more sunshine than New England and Canada?  Maybe it has something to do with Seasonal Affective Disorder?

"...a pioneer in SAD research, has estimated that the prevalence of SAD in the adult United States population is between about 1.5 percent in Florida and about 9 percent in the northern US.[5]"

Why do you think the Poms in the UK are always in crappy moods?

  9. In my opinion the answer is totally obvious: The weather.

Weather sets the mood and atmosphere for everyone within it. In the north, it's all gray skies and rain and cold. In the south, it's sun and warmth.

  10. In places where the weather is usually cold, people get into the habit of keeping their mouths closed.  This even accounts for many differences in accents, and for different sounds in languages.  Spanish and Italian - languages from Southern Europe, make sounds largely with the tongue and end words with the mouth open - almost like a panting dog.  English and German often end words with the mouth closed and make more noises in the throat.  The farther North you go, the less people open their mouths when they talk.  Simple.  It's too cold!  Your teeth will freeze

  11. I used to smile all the time because I am an optimistic and happy person.  My husband trained me not to smile, especially at men, because they take it as a come on.

  12. Time crunch?  Though I admit I love New England and Canadian women.

  13. It's warmer down there and people are more relaxed....also ignorance is bliss.

  14. There is no reason why women should go around smiling all the time.  it is natural for the face to be in repose most of the time.  You smile if you have something to smile at, but there is no reason to be permanently grinning all the time.

  15. If you think feminists are hairy and don't like it than why don't you shave your face so that people don't think you're a feminist.

It's clear your former plus size 18 girlfriend lost a lot of weight, not only did she finally trim down but she dumped you which is much more weight than the weight she originally had.

  16. Ah, but do men from this area smile much, either?  I doubt it.  CA and FL are often warm and sunny.  People there have a lot to smile about.

When it's always warm, you can always feel sort of s**y by how you dress.  People really don't care about that sort of thing and opt for just anything that's warm when it's at or below freezing outside for weeks at a time.  Survival outranks being attractive or at least feeling attractive.

  17. I'll smile when I wish to smile. It's not my job to make you feel better by smiling at you.

  18. It must have something to do with the constant sun and warm weather.

  19. You have it all wrong, Ronnie. They just don't see the point in smiling at you.
