Why have you put off having kids?

Just curious. I'll have been married for 3 years in two weeks, and we don't yet have kids. Family and friends keep asking when we'll have kids. I just smile and say someday. My reasons are simple. I am in the process of losing weight, and I think you can't tell your kids to eat healthy and stay at a healthy weight if you yourself are heavy. Also, I have endometriosis. I need a laparoscopy soon, and the best time to conceive with endometriosis is within 12 months of a laparoscopy, and I don't feel THAT ready for children. What are your reasons for holding off?

  1. My reason for holding off was that i wanted to make a comfortable life to bring a baby into. Even though my fiance' and i have been together for 10 years, we only managed to afford our own home together 3 years ago. After being in our new house for a year we decided we'd got it how we wanted it and decide to try for a baby. We were thrilled to find out i was pregnant straight away, but our happiness was short lived when i had a miscarriage at 6 weeks. We tried again for 9 months but i had a 2nd m/c. To cut a long story short, we had tests done and a lap found i had endo. I am now on 6 months injections of prostap (lupron) and i'm praying that it will work. I am 35 and the biggest regret i've got in life is not trying for a baby sooner. You automatically think that once your ready you will have no trouble getting pregnant. How wrong was i. The moral of the story is, never put things off for too long, because it might end up being too late.

    Good luck
