Question:

Why haven't I lost a pound?

I've completely changed my diet without even realizing it until a few days ago. I haven't touched a piece of fried anything (other than a three orders of fries in the last month and a half). And that all that was usually prepared at my house-fried chicken, fried pork chops, fried this, fried that.

I've never been big on eating carbs. I rarely eat spahgetti or bread (I don't care for bread). I have eaten some of that Uncle Ben's rice with the peas and carrots though. I don't think that's bad.

And since mid-July, I've been eating salads like crazy. I used to hate them, now, yum. I don't put anything heavy on it. Just iceberg lettuce, fresh spinach and maybe some carrots with a little Italian dressing.

I admit, I have been slack on exercising because I took some college science classes this summer (and I had homework when I got home. Ugh.) or the weather's been strange. Raining cats and dogs one minute 90 degrees the next and I've heard it was dangerous to exercise in that kind of heat. And for another reason. Trust me, I'm not making excuses, I'm iching to get out of the house.

But, I do plan on getting more active when school starts. You should see those stairs. I end up going up and down about 30 times a day.

I don't drink a lot of water and I know that may play a part in it. Water makes my stomach hurt. I'll drink it, esp. if it's flavored, but I feel sick after not even coming close to 8 glass. (isn't that a myth though?)

And, don't think I'm lazy or making excuses, because I promise you I'm not. I have a lot of energy, I just can't get it out lately. And I have great stamina; more than my thin friends. I'd say I'm in pretty good shape, aside from some pounds I can't shake.

  1. Maybe with the healthier foods you are eating & all the stairs you have been climbing, you have gained some muscle tone.

Ignore the scales & measure yourself instead. Try on a pair of jeans or trousers you haven't worn for awhile & see how well they fit. If they feel a bit more loose than last time, you've lost some fat & gained more defined muscles.

And muscle weighs more fat, so it's a good thing!

    Keep up the good work.

  2. Try exercising in the morning. Usually s*x offenders aren't up at 7am, although I guess I don't know when they wake up.... Anyway, just wake up before you have to be out and about and go for a run or bike ride. If it's raining do stair steps, jump rope, do aerobics, etc.

I'd recommend sparkpeople.com They have a lot of tips/articles/forums/nutritionist guidance. That's very strange that water makes your stomach hurt. I've never heard of that before, maybe the people at sparkpeople can help you.

  3. Put on some headphones in your room and do a 20-minute high-energy workout every day. If you've got a videogame console, go and get DDR and start playing it. The pounds will melt off of you like butter off of that guy from the Fantastic Four who's on fire all the time.
