Why haven't Wally Lewis won any more Golden Boot Awards?

Question

Nearly eevryone say that Wally plays his best football for QLD and Australia. Well Wally has won 8 Man of the Match awards in State of Origin, but he has only won one "Golden Boot Award = 1985".

Great players should always dominate their field such as Micahel Jordan winning 5 MVP, 2 All Star MVP, 7 staright scoring titles, 2 Slam Dunk awards. that's why people these days still say that theirs only 1 MJ.

If Wally is so great and dominating in Rugby league he should show with outstanding performances worthy of awards. Andrew Jones and Darren Lockyler has won 2 Golden Boot awards which i remind that this reprecents as the best player in the world.

Lewis was the King, even though I hated him with a passion at the time ! He controled the game unlike anyone could ! I'm a Parra supporter, hated Manly & Qld, Sterling and Kenny ruled, but Lewis often played over Kenny. I think Andrew Johns was the Greatest individual player ever !

I am with you and agree that Wally Lewis should have won more Golden Boot awards.  He is the best player I have ever seen, just ahead of his Kangaroos partner in crime, Peter Sterling.

I believe that Wally's late start in the NRL cost him.  When he did join Brisbane, he didn't work well with Wayne Bennett, so that may have cost him too.

If he did join Manly when he originally signed, imagine how good they would have been.  Also would Cliff Lyons had to play half back, forcing Hasler to lock.

Even though Wally lewis won all those man of the match awards in state of origin, it does'nt mean that he should have won more golden boot awards, mainly because Wally's game suited State of origin more than any other game he played. That is Why he will be regarded as one of the best ever state of origin players ever to play the game, but not necessarilly The greatest player ever to play league. We have seen in recent years great players week in week out, players who win games for thier club, players who play great for Australia but are not necessarily that great players when it comes to state of origin. State of Origin is a totally different game, and is run at a rapid pace.

To win the golden boot award you need to be the best player on the field week in week out.
