at the beginning of march i purchased 6 juliet tomato plants and placed them into a green plastic plant hanging bag. they have been growing extremely well. many of them are huge, but still many more are just begining to grow. the large tomatoes are dark green towards the stem and light translucent green towards the bottom of the tomato. can anyone tell me why they just are turning red yet?

  1. um...

  2. It can depend on many factors: Climate, soil, water, if you used fertilizer and most importantly the variety of plant.

Some take longer to mature than others despite what the little plastic marker that comes with the plant says.

I've been growing tomatoes for years and usually the same variety and mine are a little late turning this year than last.

Maybe has something to do with Global Warming I'm not sure  but they will turn soon.

  3. COS UR A **** GARDERNER

  4. Growing tomatoes takes a lot of patience. When they are ready, they will ripen. The dark green is a sign that they are still growing. Just give them some time and soon you will have your harvest.

  5. The lighter green your tomatoes are the closer they are to ripening.  Once they are near white they will begin to turn orange, then red.  This is when they are ready to pick!  Give it two or three more weeks and you will have your first tomatoes fresh from the vine and ready to eat.  :)

  6. I don't know about gardening really, but my dad is really good at it and said that they should get color soon. He's waiting on his too, they're the same.
