  1. How do you know they haven't already?

  2. The simple answer: they are too far away to get here.

The real question is - can any of them send a form of communication that we can recognize as being from a form of intelligence?  That hasn't been confirmed yet.

If we were to find that the closest star to our solar system has a civilization that is capable of spacetravel, they (or we) would have to develop a spaceship that would take several hundred years to arrive.

  3. This question is known also as Fermi Paradox.

Basically, mathematically speaking, there are millions upon millions of "other" life forms out there.

Using the Drake's equation as a guide of course.

    So where are they?

The only answer that anyone has been able to come up with so far that actually sounds plausible is this:

We are just not that interesting... yet.

Maybe one day, but right now we are just stupid monkeys that kill each other because someone's religious beliefs isn't the same.

  4. fun fact: the distance between the sun and the nearest star is over 250,000 times the distance between the sun and earth. maybe that has something to do with it.

  5. Who says they haven't,  who says they even need spaceships and how do you know they are even really from space?

  6. lets face it- earth is rare. it is the only planet we've observed to have all of the qualifications to sustain intelligent life. it has water, a perfectly portioned atmosphere and a temperate climate. intelligent life and simple organic life are two very different things. intelligent life forms need a lot more than simple organic beings. plants can adapt in a number of situations, and some bacterial organisms don't even need oxygen. all they need is light to produce their own food. intelligent beings need the perfect amount of sunlight, as well as enough water and food to get through. intelligent beings don't produce their own food within their body. they grow food, or eat food found around them.

the paragraph above was to give you an idea of what the differences are between intelligent life and simple life in terms of needs. as you can tell, intelligent beings need a lot more in order to exist. intelligent beings can't adapt as well as simpler organisms can.

an earthlike planet is extreamily rare. we know of none that exist. you may have read articles on yahoo about these earthlike planets but we have no proof that they have water, continents, and are the right distance from their local star.

intelligent life is rare. if other intelligent life does exist, they probably haven't mastered space travel. as far as we know, we are a rare organism. we are also an intelligent organism... the most intelligen we have observed.

so aliens haven't visited earth because there probably aren't any aliens that have mastered space travel within our vacinity. sure there's other life. in theory, there are 750,000,000,000,000,000 solar systems in the visible universe... not to count the countless number of galaxies we can't see that have solar systems in them. so there has to be other life. it can't be limited to one solar system. simple organisms, like bacteria, can live practically anywhere. we left some bacterial organisms on the moon one time, and left them there. the next time we picked them up, the population had decreased, but the original bacteria reproduced. the moon has no oxygen, or air for that matter, and it is very cold.

so simple organisms- the universe is probably loaded with them

intelligent organisms- those are probably rare which is why life hasn't visited our planet.

  7. Could be because we are not yet technologically advanced and lets face it we are a danger even to each other. So this is just like why we humans dont venture out into the lairs of savage animals, unless we are intend to kill them. Also imagine what a caveman will do if we give him guns and bombs.

So until we become a better more enlightened species, those aliens will stay away from us savage beings.
