  1. because they are just too busy to think about their profit and gain. They think that they will not gain anything if they do these stuff.

another factor is that, they are just too greedy. think about this, would there be hungry, malnutrition, sickness, poverty etc. around the world if these billionaires would give half of their income to those organizations that help the people?

  2. people are very greedy and want to keep the money to themselves.

  3. Why??? We should end poverty and cure AIDS... REAL PROBLEMS!!!!!!!!!

  4. billionaires are obviously very good at making money. One could assume they don't see this as a good investment opportunity, for one of many reasons, which could be as simple as they already have other proven investments that are working for them and they would prefer not to take a chance, or perhaps they don't think this is profitable at all, or perhaps they don't believe in global warming.  As it is, green energy still isn't as cost effective as dirty energy.

Instead of doing this as an investment opportunity, maybe you wonder why they don't do this as an act of good will, for the betterment of the world? This is called philanthropy, which is a concept growing in popularity.  There are countless other causes to donate money to which have more tangible effects. One could argue the benefits of going green, but its pretty hard to argue the benefits of finding a cure for cancer.  When people donate millions, or billions of dollars to a cause, its important to know the money is being put to good use.

  5. First, it would very difficult at this time to develop a town that was able to tackle "all" forms of pollution; unless, of course, you prefer to live among the Amish, which is not entirely free of pollution.  In fact, I seriously doubt that the human race will ever entirely tackle all forms of pollution.  Every organism on Earth leaves some form of waste.

Second, billionaires are most likely billionaires due to their ability to recognize profit-making ventures.  At this time, either no opportunities exist or none have been recognized.

But, it is a very interesting question!  :)
