  1. In Europe, this was used to differentiate between classes of people in the workspace.

    White collar jobs were those that needed advanced education (you choose how much education) and those workers with little education.

    The reason  this came about as a saying is that management wore stiff white collars and ties, while the workers wore medium blue smocks (jackets)

    This color delineation is still evident in many European workplaces today.


  2. Back in the day people in white collar jobs actually wore white dress shirts everyday. It wan;t until the 80's that it really started to change. Blue collar comes from the uniforms of the factory which were usually blue. Still are in a lot of factories

  3. White color jobs are the jobs that don't require much physical strength. Ex: office work, signing of papers, doing computer stuff in the office, etc.

    Blue color jobs are the jobs that require physical effort. Ex: construction work, firefighter, etc.
