  1. A network bridge connects multiple network segments at the data link layer (layer 2) of the OSI model, and the term layer 2 switch is often used interchangeably with bridge. Bridges are similar to repeaters or network hubs, devices that connect network segments at the physical layer, however a bridge works by using bridging where traffic from one network is managed rather than simply rebroadcast to adjacent network segments.

    1.Self configuring

    2.Primitive bridges are often inexpensive

3.Reduce size of collision domain by microsegmentation in non switched networks

4.Transparent to protocols above the MAC layer

5.Allows the introduction of management - performance information and access control

6.LANs interconnected are separate and physical constraints such as number of stations, repeaters and segment length don't apply  or making

  2. Your question in unclear so not sure quite if this is what you are looking for, if your mean what a network bridge is used for then it is a device (or in the case of a software bridge a computer with two or more network adapters) that is used to link together two physically separate networks at the data link layer (as opposed repeaters or hubs which link network segments at the physical layer, ie physically connect the wires together) bridges on the other hand actually read the MAC address information from the Ethernet frame to determine to which network it should be sent.
