the file blah blah blah blah cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again.

  1. http://www.xpcodecpack.com/

  2. All that blah blah blah blah means that Windows Movie Maker does not recognize the format of your movie; therefore, it can not import it into the editing program.  The format is indicated by the 3 letter extension on the end of the video file; such as: .wmv, .mov, .avi, or .mp4 .  If you can identify the extension, then a more accurate answer can be provided.

Use Windows Media Encoder http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows... to convert your Personal video to WMV or AVI, so WMM can use it.  You can also try t@b Video and Audio Converter http://www.thugsatbay.com/tab/?q=tab-vid... , AVS Video Converter http://avs4you.com/AVS-Video-Converter.a...

and Any Video Converter http://www.any-video-converter.com/produ...  All of these programs can be downloaded for free.

If you need to use a lot of these Personal videos or you will be recording a lot more like this, you may need to upgrade from WMM to a more powerful video editing program.  This will save you from converting every single video file for WMM.  Sony Vegas Pro and Pinnacle Studio are available for less than $100.  There are also other free video editing programs available that might also do the job.  http://motionpicturecentral.com/book/fre...
