1. its not white its transparent.

  2. its not white lol

  3. It is whit if it is foggy. otherwise it is clear

  4. Pure ice is clear. If it is white it is because it has microscopic air bubbles in it.

  5. Ice is not white. It is clear. Take a close look at your ice cubes, you can see right through them. Of course, ice is not optical quality, so there are things like air bubbles trapped inside, but the rest of it is clear.

    Sometimes I like to tint my ice cubes with food coloring so I don't get bored. I might make one tray that is red, another one that is blue or green... much betterer than plain old clear ice cubes.

  6. impurities... ice should be clear, but air and other impurities makes it white.

    Look at ice sculptures for an example. The water is treated and vibrated while it is frozen to remove bubbles from it. That is why the ice sculpture at weddings and other events is crystal clear.

  7. its clear.

  8. i always thought it was clear but wutever lol

  9. its clear.

    because water is clear, and it's a solid form of water.

  10. Its trapped air that causes the whiteness.

  11. Air bubbles and cracks in the ice make it appear translucent.

  12. water is clear and ice is the product of water being frozen.

  13. its not exactly white...lol

    its frozen water & it can get really frozen in the middle to where

    It turns a whiteish color i guess??Im not fer sure..

  14. its acually clear, see through

  15. ice is clear

  16. why? because water is clear and so when you freeze it it will be clear ice like water because it is water ice. but it is just colder that makes it look white.

  17. it is clear....what you are seeing are the frost crystals forming ...usally at the surface.......

  18. It is clear actually. (;

  19. the air, dummy

  20. SNOW IS WHITE...and WATER IS TRANSPARENT ...BUT

    SOMETIMES ICE CAN BE ....BOTH !!!

    The reason ice turns white;

    Water near the surface freezes first and tiny air bubbles move toward the center of the ice to form a cloudy part...The tiny bubbles give off a white color.

    The appearance of cloudy ice normally depends on water properties and the method of making the ice.

    Generally, water is transparent; because it doesn't absorb or reflect visible light.

  21. ice is not white water is clear and then at low temp turns to ice. now water is composed as H20. 1 hydrogen atom and 2 oxygen atoms. oxygen is a gas form. remember u cant see it but u can feel it the white u see is the oxygen in the hydro.thats why dry ice tends to b white due to the cabon dioxide gas and oxygen in it. duh? i think

  22. As water freezes crystals of pure water grow driving any impurities (gas or minerals, etc.) ahead of the crystals. The impurities (if any) can become trapped between different crystals causing the ice to be unclear or even white. The speed at which the ice crystals grow depends upon how low (below freezing) the temperature is. Rapid freezing will produce more and shorter crystals with well distributed trapped impurities.

  23. it isn't.. water is clear unless it has other elements in it. pure H20 i mean.

  24. It's not. Ice is clear like water.

  25. its actually clear but do to miniature cracks and air spaces in it it appears to be white

  26. because you're blind?
