Why im i getting slow wireless internet connection?

After 2 months of getting good connection on my Linksys usb adapter, i get low signal strength and link quality. I used to get 54mbps to 48mbps, now i get 11 to 5.5mbps. The wireless zero configuration is off and their is no interference from other ****. My friend says it could be Linksys and my pc clashing but i dont know.

  1. How do you know there is no interference/competition with other devices? Is there anyone nearby in your neighborhood that has a wireless router? I would try changing channels. I THINK the default is 6 or 7. Try a different channel and see if anything improves.
