I was watching men's game last night. What is the reason and function for different color? is this player replaceable? I assume same in 6-women volleyball?

  1. I think any player can sub out. The person with the different jersey tends to be shorter, as well, right? I kind of wondered if maybe it was the captain's jersey, but probably not.

    I hope somebody knows!

  2. it is the libero, meaning that player is usually the better defense person and passer. they can only play in the back

  3. That's the Libero. They can sub for any back row player at any time, but they can't attack the ball above the net so they tend to be shorter players.

  4. That person is a defensive specialist.  This is a fairly new position that was added either at the end of the 90's or the beginning of this decade.  It's called a libero.  It's specific purpose is a little complicated so I'll just leave a link.

Added: They cannot come up to block, kill, set (inside the 3 meter area) or serve.

  5. thisperson is called a libero they specialized in passing youll barely ever see them spike a ball. they can sub out at anytime and a libero doesnt always have to be in the game

  6. I believe it's called Libero

This person only plays in the back row for defensive purposes.
