Why in Iceland sun shines longer than in Spain? (in summer)?

Roger, I know that by my self, but why are they having longer days?

  1. During the summer season the Earth tilts on its axis towards the sun.  Because of the tilt, those countries further north - like Iceland - get more exposure to the sun and therefore longer days.  Spain is further south so the tilting of the Earth doesn't affect how long their days are.

    It's the opposite in the winter. The Earth tilts away from the sun, which explains why countries up north have longer nights.


  2. Iceland is farther north than Spain. Areas near the poles have longer summer days and longer winter nights than areas near the equator.
