Why in Scotland do you have to pay for prescriptions yet some dont?

I thought the NHS was all about equality... I had to get some beta blockers and a couple of other things for my exams and was charged £20 for four things. Its scandalous, and yet people on job seekers, income support etc get it free. It isnt my fault I have depression and need tablets, equally it isnt someones fault who say has diabetes and requires medicine yet has to pay because they work.

  1. You do just now but they have just dropped the charge - it would have cost you more a few months ago - and they are phasing it out altogether by 2011.  But someone somwhere has to pay for it...
