Why in a sea shell do you hear a breathing like sound?

this is a random question i have a pretty counch or somthing like that from London and i wanted to know why you hear the "ocean" (people say)??

  1. It's the echoing of the sounds made when the conch approaches your ear. The sound waves will start to bounce to and fro, and the shell will make it sound a little hollow.

    When the conch is held against your ear, the movement of the conch against your ear will make even more sound, which is then echoed as well.


  2. Its the echo of the blood rushing by your ears, it can be done with any thing like a glass or cup too, or even your hand.
