Question:

Why in a street fight do women try to pin the opponent & punch them but guys mostly fight on thier feet?

You always see in chickfights where a girl pins another girl to the ground and then beats her in the face with her fist and elbows. But usually guy fights aren't on the ground. They are made up of mostly punches and kicks while they are on their feet. Guys go to the ground too but it doesn't seem as often as women do. Why do women choose to ground and pound whereas guys don't?

  1. Hmm, that's interesting....

Usually, if she's trying to fend off a guy, the woman knows that she should go for the nuts.  I guess that there's a psychological element to what you say...the woman sees it as more to her advantage if she knocks an opponent off of their feet, as she is then in a position of power and has more time to get away if she needs to.  Guys are more about instant damage.

  2. Ummmm .... It could be a number of reasons

1- That is the way woman are to fight as portrayed in the media like movies and such, where you see them mud wrestling and so on and so some woman might get the idea that it is the more effective way of fighting.

2 - Physical build up, the average woman does not have the up body strength the a man does as so it she wants to maximise the damage she causes she will ground and pound as you say.

3 - Training, some might have received training that teach them to fight that way, like Martial Arts or self defence classes.

There are many reasons that could be the causes but those three could be a good answer as any.

  3. i don't want to sound sexist/ignorant or anything... but the most logical answer to me is the fact that lots of girls usually end up grabbing and pulling each other's hair and less punching... along with the pulling of the hair... as one who is getting their hair pulled... they usually lean over which makes it easier to take to the ground....

  4. because women want the fight to be over quick with as little damage to themselves as possible when being the aggressor. so by pinning someone you have control over their attacks towards you, its just like in an MMA fight when it goes to the ground, its all about gaining control of the situation.

  5. because on average I would be willing to bet there are a h**l of a lot more men fighting and training to fight and willing to fight/box than women.

thus a person's natural reaction who doesn't knwo how to fight when taking punches is to tackle the other to avoid bieng hit, thus the fight becomes a grappling match till one gets a dominant position that has some semblance of the top mount where the person on top will deliver powerfull blows to the opponent's head, arms whatever they can reach with little fear of retaliation- even without the knowledge of submissions and what to do when they strike back the strikes from below just won't be as powerfull.

I woudl think not just women- but ANYONE would end up in a fight like this that doesn't know becuase it is more psycologically normal to grapple and wrestle around as thats what we all did when we were 5 before we learned to throw a punch and hit someone to hurt them (probably a few years after that).

I just think it seems more likely to see this among unskilled women AND among skilled groundfighters and grapplers (who will obvioulsy intentionally take the fight to thier advantage range). So all we have left trying to keep the fight on the feet are the small percentage of society that studies striking arts only and are comfortable trading hits on thier feet and the odds that they don't run into someone who tries to tackle them (and they can't defend it) and/or a grappler.

pretty small #s if you ask me.

  6. Because guys just want to beat the other guy's face in......even if they have to take a few punches.........girls just want to get it over with without getting hit.

  7. I don't know how many real fights you've seen, but every one I've ever seen has gone to the ground before too long.... male or female. You have to remember that most people just don't know any technique, but everyone has the ability to deal damage due to instinct.

I don't know about you, but I have slugged it out with a few people, and I still DON'T like getting hammered in the face. I have a background in Boxing and BJJ but I'd much rather use a choke or a jointlock on someone that stand there and get my face beat up.

  8. women inherently like to be in dominant positions, especially in a fight, as well as in other aspects of life....right fellas?

  9. women like wrestling???

  10. actually guy fights are usually on the ground...unless both guys take karate and are used to sparring on their feet
