  1. This would be due to an overwhelming lack of interest on the part of pretty much everyone.  It is all but irrelevant in modern American society. .

  2. z z z z z z z z z z z z

  3. Oh we didn't know queens exist in a 4Th world country. We thought queens are for royalties only and rich countries. Are you really serious or its just one of the fairy tale or you mean a queen with no throne?

  4. The majority of Americans are from European ancestry so their interest is in that heritage.

And it is Western history that is taught in schools. I think it is a bit better today than when i was a kid. The education was very Eurocentric. Yes we learned a bit on ancient Egypt (which I was fascinated with)  but we did not learn about the ancient empires of Nubia, or Ancient Ghana, Mali, Songhay, Kanem-Bornu, etc. I did not learn about those things until i read it on my own and found what rich and fascinating history there was in my African heritage.

  5. Except for the ancient kings and pharaohs, the royals of Africa aren't rich or in the public eye the way European royalty is. Therefore, they don't get the attention that other royal families get.

I have actually met one of the tribal kings of Ghana. His people affectionately call him King Nana (pronounced Nah-nah). He's a very good and kind man. The people aren't rich in Ghana but they are well mannered and polite. (and they have really good chocolate!)

In that part of Ghana, the crown does not pass from the father to the son, but form uncle to nephew. If I remember correctly, it's because many generations ago a Ghanaian king was lost in the jungle and his son refused to go find him because he wanted to be king. The king's nephew went out and found him. From that time on, the son of the king was not the heir, instead the king's nephew inherited the throne.

So King Nana's nephew is his heir and his sister is the Queen Mother. Thought that was kinda neat and very different from the typical royal family.

  6. Why should we?

  7. because its america.. do africans talk about the american presidents?

  8. I'm American of Irish descent. I have no interest in anything American of African descent.  I'm sure it is vice versa with them.

  9. Quite simply the British royals are the most well known in many countries. But in Spain if you referred to the Royal Family, I'm quite sure people would be thinking of the Royal Family of Spain.

Who you think of when hearing the "Royal Family" is more regional.

    best of luck to you!

  10. Basically because most of the Kings in Africa over the past several hundred years have been unknown tribal leaders who have left little in the way of a contribution to civilization.  Do you know the names of any of the African Kings who sold other Africans into slavery?  Slave trading was big business even before the New World was inhabited by whites and African slaves.  "Monarchies" in Africa traditionally have been the winner of the most recent battle, not a long standing tradition of civilization.  That I hope partially answers your question.

  11. Because history is written by the winners, and we won against European royalty.  African royalty just isn't part of our past, or our major interests.  (besides, they aren't well known for having tons of jewels and silks, etc., as in our fairy tales).

BTW, in the schools in the US today, they try much harder to be all encompassing, and they DO teach some African and Asian fairy tales and much more in the way of folk tales from those regions, and it makes for a much more rounded education, but those people are, maybe, in junior high these days.  It will be a while before they are what we think of as "mainstream" demographics.

  12. because its not something anyone is interested in.
