  1. Take up with the State Government as it is a state subject. Your own elected representatives of the state sent to the Punjab Assembly are not in favour of a holiday on Baisakhi, and private sector is never interested to give anyone even the weekly off. So the balance between the two result in Baisakhi being a restricted holiday and not a Gazetted holiday.

  2. coz the private sector in India has the common sense to understand that Baisakhi is a harvest festival, and people working in the service sector do not harvest crop

  3. Coz they are minnor in India and in majority in Punjab...........

  4. Looks like nobody has asked for it as yet.  Somebody has to put up the demand.

  5. Why to talk of Baisakhi, for many festivals there are no leaves in private sector. This is in a way better and may be considered as one reason why people in Punjab has maximum per ca-pita income, maximum agricultural outputs. Some time back even government had banned many of festival leaves but because of political pressure they could not maintain it. Top economist believe that there are useless holidays in Punjab...and this practice needs to be checked
