Why in the Philippines?

im a 15 yearr old american and when i went to the Philippines...everyone always stared and smile at me,as if i was a alien from another planet..i didnt understand why? and i never wanted to walk around the street because of the ammount of crowds staring ,smiling,waving to me.I thought it was the most bizzare thing ever.Random groups of girls would wave and smile at me through jeepneys,bike,or walking,this would happend to me everyday :( even the g**s over there would do the same.I never felt comfortable ,i felt like a famous person..but i got very angry ,because this was a regular routine always...but there were good parts when people always wanted me to be there freind..Anyway getting to the point...(Why? do they do this?!!)

filipinas are nice to you because they think you're handsome.

but in the States, your face is a looser.

it's the same.

you think most filipinas are beautiful..

but in the eyes of a filipino passerby,

she's nothing but a beast or worst.

Filipinos/filipinas are actually amazingly warm, open, friendly people, as far as I can tell. And they don't seem to be hung up on Western ideals of what's good-looking, so maybe you really do look fine to them. If you're 15, the girls are probably not thinking about marrying you for a green card. It's just a really different culture, that's all. Because of the extreme poverty, you may run into some people hoping you'll help them financially. Don't get angry at them, or at g**s who might be attracted. Just conduct yourself with self-respect & there will be no danger anybody could take advantage of you.

because in the phillipines, they are very friendly.

my friend is philipino, she loves going back there for the enviornment, and nice people. i've never been there, but i know it really is one of the friendliest countries to visit. <3

Hi Mr 15 y.o guy.  people in the Philippines are known for their friendliness and hospitable in dealing with foreign people, sometimes we think that everyone is our friend and since we can speak english, so its convenient for us to relate. some people stared at you for the reasons that they are happy to see people from another part of the world who visited Philippines..why dont you try to say hello to. You are not ugly, just look into the inner of you and there you can find the beauty that some people dont see but those people that touches your life to them you are more...ok

but to be honest... they may wanted to be in your good graces (your friend) because you can give gifts from america..

and even more honest... a lot of the girls want/need your favor to get a greencard. if you marry one of them, they can come to america with you too and they can live the good life and help their family back in the philippines

they admire white people. they also like ripping you off if you go shopping with them because you don't know their tricks so they try to persuade you to buy their stuff because they think you don't know anything but it's still cheap for you especially since you come from the states. but yeah basically they think you're hot

Just get use to it! Others wave at you not because they find you handsome at all, others are just gaya-gaya or mimicking those who started to wave at you. It's not that they are making fun of you whatsoever but they just do this to show "hospitality" reason or to some just nothing. It doesn't ONLY happens to foreigners but also to Filipinos who had arrive in a different place, those "tambays" would greet a newcomer as if he/she is a Holywood actor.

haha they say the philippines is the second happiest place on earth. cus even though most of the people are poor they are really happy.

i think its because your from the US. or you look different. its like something new to look at insted of the average pinoy look. alot of my class mates say the prefer guys from outside of asia.

we love white skin:P havent you noticed all the ads for skin whitening. its becasue we think white skin is beautiful and means your high class. not much people enjoy tan/dark skin cus it makes them look to native. :P also most people here have black eyes.

In most cases Filipinos/nas doing this are the ones who don´t have the experience to travel a lot or even better to live in Eruope or America for many years. So their judgement could be limited. White skin is beautiful, that´s it.
