  1. I think the reason is shared with

Trunk instead of Boot (boot is an article of clothing for your feet)

Stroller instead of pushchair or tram

Fly like the wind instead of Get on your bike

    Soccer instead of football

Football instead of "20 huge f*&&*ers smashing into each other"

    Wackjob instead of nutter

    Subway instead of Underground

Hmm...do we actually speak the same language?

    Just the fun little differences

Really is short form Mommy, our little ones still say mommie, you don't say mom until your 10 or so here

  2. Because Mom is short for Mommy and we love our Mommys here in the USA!

  3. I say either, but when I'm talking about her or like writing about her I will say Mom.

  4.   We say mum and mummy in Australia.  Mom sounds like you are pronouncing it wrong.

  5. Why do you say "MUM"? I am from america and I guess its just the way we were taught it is pronounced.

  6. I agree with Todd and would like to add that Mums are flowers in the U.S.

  7. dont know.. but i bet its the same reason in england they say "mum" and not "mom"...
