  1. It was adopted way back during the medieval times when scoring the game in quarters like the hands of a clock. A valid score is quarter of whole, scoring the whole wins a game & so on. 60 will end a game in favor to the winner.

  3. Its just another way of scoring and it avoids confusion as players also have a game score. I think originally it was based on a clock every 15 minutes e.g. 15, 30, 45...

    But somewhere along the line someone who was rather bad a math got a little confused. That's hat my tennis coach said anyway - I think it was quite a way back now.

  4. Because in the beginning of the tennis, one must advance 15 lards at every point earned by the player.
