  1. That happens on a full moon or near about that time.

  2. That would be near the time of full moon. The two would be in the same sector of sky in the time of new moon.

  3. Due to the rotation of the Earth, the Sun, Moon, and everything else in the sky for that matter appears to "rise in the East and set in the West."

  4. You can't see that every morning, only some mornings. The Moon orbits the Earth once every 28 days and so is seen in 28 diffeent parts of the sky each of those 28 days. One of those 28 days the Moon is exactly opposite the Sun in the sky and it is setting just as the Sun rises. For a few days after that you can see the Moon in the west for a short time in the morning.

  5. the moon also rises in the east but has not set by the time the sun comes out.

  6. Yes, and I noticed it too.  It happened this past Sunday, as the Sun was coming up, the Moon was starting to set.  The Moon was almost full, too, and it was an interesting sight.

I don't see it very often, as I'm not much of a morning person, but I DID notice it last week, though.

  7. That's not always the case. Sometimes, the moon rises with the sun, sometimes it sets with the sunrise, and other times it's somewhere in between. It depends on where in its orbit the moon is.
