Why in the world does the "Big" 12 have five teams in the top 14?

Last year I asked this question...http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AsVNM.4qstKHXo6uR2vCfQ_ty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20070901083925AAobvOK . .. that helped YA prepare for the reality of how both the Lil 11 and Notre Dame would show their true colors during the season.

What do the voters have against the Big 12 teams? Why have they set them up for failure? Will they EVER quit picking on Ohio State and let them slip off into obscurity?

  1. The Big 12 has been very consistent among the rankings due to talent, they have good teams who dont get enough credit from fans of other conferences. The big 12 also has one of the best rivalries in NCAA football (Oklahoma vs Texas), those 2 states hate each other in general so college sports is just fuel for more hatred and intense die hard fans. Kansas showed a good run last season, and now im sure they'll want that national title even more having come so close to it, same goes for Missouri. And that **** about Oklahoma choking in big games is nonsense, they were supposed to get blown out by Florida State in 2000 and what happend? FSU didnt even score in that game. Oklahoma choked once, and that was against USC, other than that they just got outplayed by their opponent in the other "big games", but in reality if anyone in the Big 12 has a shot at the national title this year, its Oklahoma, because they dont have trouble against any of the other ranked teams in the big 12.  Oklahoma is the team to beat if any of the other Big 12 teams want a shot at the title. I cant wiat til the season starts though, looks like its gonna be a good one.

  2. All those polls don't mean anything.

No one will ever know who the best teams are until a playoff system is in place.

Until then, it's all politics, TV and money.

That's why I like pro football better.

  3. Because it's the easy pick. OSU doesn't have a championship to play like Big 12 and SEC, and it isn't filled with landmine games like the big 12 and sec. pretty much in the big 10, michigan, wisconsin, and osu is it and osu will probably win it AGAIN until rich rod's guys learn the new system. They go with the safe picks. so they don't get pie in their face.

  4. The Big 12 is the second best confrence in football. The SEC is the only one better. But the only real national title contenders are Texas, and Missouri because OU always chokes in big games.

  5. Because the Big XII is the best conference in the NCAAF.

    In no particular order:

    Missouri

    Texas

    Oklahoma

(as much as I HATE saying this) Kansas

    (this too) Texas A&M

Baylor is looking pretty good in the pre-season

Oklahoma State has a lot of returning starters and a promising quarterback in Zac Robinson

The SEC can gloat all they want to, but its the Big XII's time.

  6. because you can't say badass and college football w/o mentioning the big XII. exception being baylor<<<please go to conference usa. GO HUSKERS!!!!!!!!!

  7. B/c the Big 12 is one of the premier conferences in NCAAF. We have some of the biggest venues and some of the best teams.

TX and OU have been very consistent in the last 8 yrs as being top 15 teams. KU and Tech are new comers but KU had a great season last year (don't know if those two teams will live up to the ranking but they do have a shot to do something this year)

Missouri is a newcomer but they are getting a lot of respect from the coaches and the AP so they may be the real deal.

It'll be settled starting in a couple weeks.

  8. I don't see any problems in the rankings, nor do I see anyone else that should replace them.  1 would ask the same about 4 SEC teams being in the top 10, I would take the under on that being the case at the end of the year!
