  1. I wouldn't have it done to my daughter.  She can get them done when she's ten yrs old if she wants to then.

  2. I am against people getting their babies/toddlers ears pierced too. Why inflict pain on a young baby/child just because YOU want their ears done. A baby of only 1 year or even younger doesn't understand about earings or anything like that. And children grow up so fast these days why not just let me be kids? I know people might think its cool or it'll make their daughters look beautiful or whatever but aren't babies/children beautiful anyway?

By fake earings if you have to and worry about piercings when they're old enough to take care of their ears/piercings themselves.

  3. I think people do it so people know it is a girl.

I think it is better to wait till they can do it themselves (turn them).  I just read about a liittle girl who had the skin grow over her earing after a month because the mom

    wasn't turning them.yuck.

  4. I agree. That's something a person should be able to choose for herself when she's older.

I didn't want my daughters to get their ears pierced when they were almost 14. They went "birthday" shopping with their grandma, my mother, and she had it done for them. Now that she's gone, I wish she were still here to defy me.

  5. Some of it is cultural...other's are because the mother wants her baby's ears piereced and since it is HER child she has the right to do so.  Deal with it.

  6. I don't agree with it either, but the general answer I often hear is that they think the child won't remember the pain of getting her ears pierced like she would if she were older.

I personally think the child deserves to decide for themselves if they even want their ears pierced.

  7. I know several people who got their ears pierced at a few days old.  Babie's nerves are not as developed then and it doesn't hurt as much as later - (the same concept as the circumcision done at a few days of life.)

I like it.  I think it's cute, and a friend of mine had to shave her daughter's head because of a scalp problem and if she didnt' have her earings she'd look like a boy.

  8. Well, it sounds like you have a very strong opinion about the subject.  So I guess my question to you is, why are you asking?  I don't think someone's answer will sway you, so why are you even bothering?  :)-

  9. I got my daughters ears pierced when she was 3 months old.  It's traditional in my family to do it and also my husbands.  I really didn't want to do it, but gave in to my MIL's pressure and made her take the baby to have it done.  Now, my daughter's ears are no longer pierced because she was an ear-tugger when teething and was constantly pulling the earrings out.  Pulling them out I could deal with, but the day she almost choked on one was the straw that broke the camels back.  No more earrings after that.  My MIL bought the ones with s***w on backs after the incident but I told her no way.  So while I don't think it's cruel, I do think it's a safety hazard and shouldn't be done.

  10. well my sisters got their ears peirced when they were babies but i didnt. i wish i would have, it only hurts for a minute or two and they can take them out ifthey choose to when theyre older. now im so scared to do a lot of things especially ear peircing. i reallllly wish i couldve gotten them when i was younger.

  11. I got my daughters ears pierced because i wanted them done. I personaly think she looks cute, and later in life if she decides she doesnt want them she can take them out.She only cried for a second then was fine... my cousin got hers done when she was 7, got th first ear done and they had to walk around the mall for two hours before she would let them do the other side. I think its kinda like clothing. I dress my kids in what i want them to wear... when they are older they can wear what they like. I will NEVER let my daughter wear low raise jeans and belly shirt but you might let yours... i think it comes down to oppion! have a good day.

  12. I have no idea either.

I personally think it looks tacky and cheap.

  13. I agree, I guess some people dont think about their childs future and what their child might want to do in life. There are some religions and beliefs out there that dont allow recruits to join if they have holes in their body. And just to think their parents jeopardized there happiness just to look 'cute'. I had my ears pierced when I was little and I cant even remember when I had earrings last in my ears. What a waste of money.
