can't we find a better, more efficient fuel source?

Every thing has got its own advantage and dis advantages.The nuclear fuel is the  everlasting fuel provided if it is used only for proper usages.

We can.  It just took convincing people that it is necessary, so that action will be taken to implement them.  We have abundant wind, solar, and water power available.  We just need the facilities to generate electricity from them and requirements for industry to change over to these renewable energy supplies.

The ironic part of so called "green" power sources, is that in order to build them, we will need even more oil and gas in order to even manufacture them.  Muchless maintain them.  Renewables will never produce enough power on demand to go ahead and replace coal/gas/nuclear plants.  If anything, I would expect to see more nuclear plants here in the future.

Ultimately we are just wasting time by going down the "renewable" rabbit hole.  We need to spend our time and money on researching nuclear fusion.  Fusion, and nothing less will set us free from our crippling state of energy dependence.
