  8. One it is not a true democracy. many people are denied the franchise. Two it has very limited social nets for its poor. The USA does not have real poverty, India has millions who have no shelter at night they just claim a few square feet of street after dark and squat. Three the Hindu social castes are absolutely rigid and no one may climb out of the status in which they are born.

  9. The standard of living of a large part of the population is still way below the levels of the developed countries and of course the richer segments of the population of India itself. The disparity between the rich and the poor is too much.

  10. Corruption is the main problem why India is still a developing country.
