Why insects like ant/fly/mosquito hard to die even when their bodies had broke apart?

  1. The nervous system of invertebrates (things without backbones) is very different from ours. Humans have a brain and spinal cord that conducts impulses and governs movement (heartbeat, breathing,...)

    Insects have a more primitive system.  Cutting them apart does not always separate the body from it's source of movement.

    Maybe this is so that they can live through difficult times.  It would not be uncommon for them to lose a leg while out hunting.

    We, on the other hand, would think this problem quite serious!
