1998 Dodge Intrepid 3.3L V6. The car recently started to drop rpm down to nearly nothing (from 1500-2000rpm to less than 1000 rpm) at city speeds (25-45 mph), while not accelerating. It will stall if not paying attention and it does it at a stop light. Usually start right back up. It doesn't even chug at cruising speeds on the highway (60-80mph). It will occasionally stall while idling in park but it is very random. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

  1. Its time for a tune up.

  2. it could be one of a few things on it, first the tcc switch in the transmission may not be disengaging and that will cause it to stall out like that once in a while putting it in neutral will sometimes stop it from doing that secondly you could have a cracked coil on it and that will cause this too happen once in a while, then it could be a fuel delivery problem on it,id take it and have computer scan ran on it to see if it would give any trouble codes, then you may have a better idea of whats going on with it,especially if you have a check engine light coming on,have the scan done this should give you a code to work with ,then you,ll know more about what its doing, auto zone will scan it for free, then you,ll have something to go on,good luck.

  3. Well I don't want to disappoint you but I have found out that Chrysler has some kind of scheme going on and they know about this type of fault on their products, they tend to put a time limit to expire the automobile form the road all together. well just up date your computer and get an OBD II Test and that is all I know is possible to save your car. The only other thing is buy an other of the same just for parts.
