  1. Depends what state you are in.

I'm in Canberra and the Richmond/Pies game has been on since 8.30pm.  (Its half time now, wont tell you the score)

I cant believe that its not on till 11.30 in Sydney.

I was really annoyed last week that the Adelaide/Port game wasnt on till 10.30.

And we didnt even get the Western Derby!

    Go the Dockers!

    .

Make sure you complain to Channel 7 about it.

  2. Well said Big Kev, now it's all about ratings and money. The only reason it's on so late is so TV stations can have ratings and make money.

  3. i fall asleeep by the time it gets to half time...footy should be bac at channel 9 and watch it live on sundayyys too...

  4. I know but look at it this way, you can watch two games of NRL and then watch the AFL straight after - keeps you going till about 2am.

The other thing is the AFL footy show. I have only watched it once, I think it was on at about 2am midweek. Not sure how many people they think will stay up for it. Maybe it's a contract thing with payTV??

  5. because ch 7 is c**p

get foxtel here in Sydney 6 games a week live

coll-rich live on fox extra ch 518 but only in syd-canb and bris all other places at 11pm which is still before ch 7 replay

  6. Channel 7 is not as good, as channel 9  last year. The game finished that late because the game is not shown live, aslo the channel 7's commerical are longer that channel 10's ones.

The only thing i like about channel 7's footy coverge is the ......................?bring back channel 9.

  7. With the AFL, I reckon they telecast the Friday night match from 8.30 pm onwards so to attract (draw) as many local fans to the match at the venue to boost crowd attendance and profits in the coffers, as the match would have begun one hour earlier at 7.30 pm.

I think the same happens with those Friday night matches held outside the Eastern States, where of course it isn't AEST, but regardless of when such a match on Fri night begins in Adelaide or Perth it will still be telecast in the East from 8. 30 pm. I don't remember if Channel 9 (when they had the broadcast rights for Fri and Sun F'ball from 2002 - 06) whether they started their telecasts of Fri N Football to start live at 7.30 or have an 1 hour delay as well. I think it may well have been 8.30 pm as well.

Another factor is which city/area your in.

Outside of Melbourne, the scheduled times for AFL coverage will be different if not later.

    Adelaide 30 minutes behind

    Perth 2 hours behind

If matches are being held in Ade/Per, then that actual city may delay televising the match, so as to get more people to the venue to see it.

  8. YES! i know what you mean last week on channel 7 the hawthorne essendon game was on past 12! its just stupid

  9. I know what you are talking about. It's all about ratings. Tell me, who prefers Better Homes and Gardens than AFL footy?

What happened to live footy games? Why can't we watch live games on Sunday? Its c**p and the TV networks are taking control of our great game.

  10. it depends where u live i live on the gold coast and we get the game live so go to the gold coast and get austar or foxtel because u only get half the games on normal tv
