  1. Disease is horrible, over 1/4 of the population has contracted aids, the country is poor, and touristic opportunities are ruined, as any place that gets a good rep will be swarmed by the African poor, and tourists will be killed for pocket change, it happens about once a year.

  2. not because it's not nice to visit ... it's because of all the diseases that come from there ...

manchester united went there this summer and now rooney has a disease that the british doctors haven't seen before (example :D)

  3. Africa is actually very beautiful. My grandpa goes there a lot but the facts and media portray Africa as a dark, scary, and poor place. That's why not too many people go. Also half the continent is inhabitable. The Sahara and the jungle take up a lot of Africa. There are a lot of nice places down south though. Its the perfect example of don't judge a book by its cover.

  4. Probably because it's known as a disease ridden, third world country. Not to mention the fact that we frequently hear about corrupted, unstable African governments. It doesn't come across as the safest destination.

  5. IS IT?

I would want to go to africa to see the elephants and lions

my tuition teacher had been there..

  6. It's not. South Asia is least visited, only next to the Arctic and Antarctica.

Africa is a frequent tourist draw, especially French Morocco , Egypt and South Africa.

  7. very poor continent and no touristic oppurtunities

  8. Writing as a South African, I can tell you there are various reasons:

    1. Some countries have major safety concerns, especially in West Africa. I just came from one such country where I was on business, and did not set foot outside the hotel unless it was to take a taxi to the client or the airport.

    2. Most African countries have very little to offer tourists. Some have game and nothing else. South Africa is one of the few, if not the only, that has a huge amount to see and do.

    3. Service in most African countries is appalling.

    4. Hotels are severely overpriced, including in South Africa. I simply travel beyond the continent for my holidays at a fraction of the price.

    5. There is ignorance among large sectors of the tourist market. It really peeves Africans off to be asked stupid questions such as how aeroplanes land in vegetable fields. I had no idea Boeing and Airbus manufactured planes for landing in vegetable fields. Does anyone know on which continent these planes are used? They certainly are not used in Africa.

  9. Cause its dangerous (civil wars), and doesn't have to many tourist attraction, except Egypt or South Africa/Cape town. I don't know, i might sound like an ignoramus but i never thought about it.

  10. I don't agree with that.  I would suspect the artic and antartic regions are less visited.
