Why do books, music and movies cost more (not including shipping) when you buy them off of BarnesandNoble.com and Borders.com than if you buy the very same thing off of Amazon.com? Serious answers only, please. I was just wondering if someone who knows the answer to this can shed some light on it for me.

  1. I wonder if it's because you are referring to used books that AMazn has. Another reason might be that Amazon offers more discounts upfront while Barnes and Nobles offers bigger discounts to member cardholders- discounts that you need to be "in the know" to obtain. Just google Borders rewards program and you can often easily locate coupon for 20-40% off.

  2. They sell in bulk and have a lot of compeition which makes sellers on Amazon drop their prices to compete.
