U.S. State Department Policy Planning Study #23, 1948:

Our real task... is to devise a pattern of relationships which will permit us to maintain this position of disparity [U.S. military- economic supremacy]... To do so, we will have to dispense with all sentimentality and day-dreaming... We should cease to talk about vague and...unreal objectives such as human rights, the raising of the living standards, and democratization... we are going to have to deal in straight power concepts. The less we are then hampered by idealistic slogans, the better. George Kennan, Director of Policy Planning. U.S. State Department. 1948

  5.      Because, we are strong allies with georgia and their country holds a large percentage of our oil supply. Also, none of those countries you mentioned are really a threat. Russia is a threat. they may have outdated millitary equipment, and their migs would get destroyed by our raptors, but their nukes are perfectly operational.

The united states also supports the european union, to which putin seems to be sending a strong message that they don't appreciate being surrounded by such a strong alliance of nations. Russia is too stubborn and prideful to join up, and feels very threatened by their exclusion from the missile defence shield because of that.

Russia is a threat to us, and therefor they are worth acting upon. The idea of them dropping a nuke as of now is pretty unlikely. mutaully assured destruction is a pretty effective factor, but russia is a large and powerful nation whether you like it or not. isolationism does not pay off.

  6. I didn't know that we were fighting with the Turks (I'm greek). Thanks for the information.

Generally, America is the "bully" of the nations. When its geopolitical or economic interests are offended it interferes. When the dominating regime of a country serves America's interests, although it commits crimes against humanity, it doesn't interfere. It's quite simple.

The difference between Putin and Bush is one: Putin defends his country, while Bush defends America's muppet country. They both lack the moustache but we still can picture it.

  7. Because it's Russia? Really? You don't get that?

  8. Might as well ask why we interfered in the 1940s.

Make no mistake, Putin is Hitler without the mustache.
