Why is America so superficial?

I think it's horrible. I've been rejected from so many opportunities (even conversations) because I am fat and ugly. How many people out there have experienced this too? I think America needs a revolution.

  1. Let Psychology be your guide.

*Social Proof* is what compels people to act. People aren't gonna 'waste' time with you if they don't feel it will  be fruitful-- conversely, people will give you full attention if they expect it to pay dividends.

  2. There are a couple of theories, and they certainly have nothing to do with Left-wing domination - in fact, a Right-winger is more likely to kill an "undesirable" than egalitarian, antiracist, antisexist Lefties (whose only enemy is a Righty).

Theory 1: We live in a market society. Market societies are based on self-interest - I provide a good/service to you - you get a good/service, I get money (simplistic, but i have no space to go into long explanations here). Market societies tend to morph over time into consumer societies - if people stopped consuming, the entire system would collapse. Consumerism is superficial compared to a society founded on other principles.

Theory 2 - The mass media is pervasive in our lives.  They promote an image of beauty which we tend to accept. If you don't fit the definition, then you are deviant.

BTW, the pre-1960s generation grew up in age where deviants were killed, persecuted. Compassion for deviants is considered "soft," "feminine," or "weak."  They can't help themselves, so take mercy on them. It's a generational thing.

  3. We have our moments.

  4. I am disabled and feel bad sometimes. But, there are some nice people out there, also. Look for other people that sit and eat alone, or seem to be lonely like you. Some Americans are stuck on themselves, and act snooty. But, you know what? They are not perfect either. They are just pretending they are.

  5. uh lol you think it's only america? Hello... canada is just as bad buddy. I was fat as a kid and got rejected by everyone; guys, friends, whoever... people are cruel if you don't look a certain way. I'm in much better shape, lost all my fat and now look way better than I ever did... funny how much nicer people are... especially guys. And i guess my attitude did change a lot too. Just develop a better attitude towards people if you can't change yourself physically.

  6. We had one; it was in the 1960's, lasted in some mutated forms till through the 1980's, and is the cause of your rant. Before then, this country had a relatively normal, decent culture Now, the left rules.

  7. I know the feeling. I WAS over weight and now am working on it, but people especially the opposite s*x, would treat me differently because of my appearance..... and it sucks!!!

  8. Corey K makes a poor case for his opening statement.  The media which is so pervasive in our lives is dominated by left leaning individuals.

America is superficial because we allow it to be.  Weak minded fools allow themselves to be told what to wear, how to look, what to drive, who to date, who to admire and so on.  There are millions of people out there waiting to be told how to live.

Maybe we can build a special place for deviants in your neighborhood.  I'm sure your children will be safe.

  9. I know how it feels. The opposite s*x might ignore you but the same s*x is always meaner. America's superficial cuz of looks and money

  10. Its what we've been taught by the media.
