Why is our country so underpopulated? We are such a big nation and yet several smaller countries have more population than us.

It's so sad that we have to invite people from other countries to fill our shortage of doctors, scientists, IT professions and other professionals.

It must make God so sad that people are happy with 2 children these days. Overpopulation is just fear put into our minds my politicians. With the growth of science and technology we can easily find more and more ways to accommodate people. Why are we scared of crowd? It's people like you and me who form crowd. How can too much of humanity be a bad thing?

It's just scary to see how underpopulated we are.

  1. AHAHAHAH! I get it-- irony!

We have too many people in the world. It would be nice if half the earth's population disappeared, then we might be able to make it another hundred years without destruction.

For some reason, humans think that the world was created for them. We think that we'll one day control everything...the problem is, before we get to that point (that we have no right to get to) we'll kill ourselves out first. Which wouldn't be bad, if we weren't taking all the other life with us! Humans are the only animal on the planet with 100% no purpose at all-- if we all died out, the world would be better off.

Humans do not own the planet. It owns us, and we're making it very, very sick. So what do you do when you get a virus? Either you destroy it, or the virus destroys you...

Sidenote-- I'm getting sterilized in a few months and doing the compassionate thing...adoption. Good for the children, and good for the earth.

  2. it aint that its over populated, but some smaller countries has more, so it make's usa look underopulted.

But i think this ocuntry is plentypopulated.

  3. we aint underpopulated....we have 300 million people here and the system can barely handle all of us right now, never mind 25 years from now.

theres a limit to the amount of people a society can sustain. overpopulation creates great strain on the planet, since obviously more people are gonna use more water, more food, need more space, and even use the bathroom more. waste treatment facilities are backing up. landfills are being filled up. gas is already 4$ a gallon, and if you add demand the price will just go up.

it aint about havin a big party with everybody.

  4. I'm going to assume this question is a joke.  Otherwise, it's scary.

  5. Generally speaking the more advanced a society is, the less children per family. Poorer countries always have more children per family due to several factors. If you look at the wealthiest and most industrialized countries (US, France, Spain, China, Japan, etc.) they have some of the lowest children per family averages.

  6. The only reason they go overseas to find scientist and technology is because we are not preparing our children to love science.

  7. God? Underpopulated? What? Have you ever complained about traffic? It's due to OVER-population. We will explode globally if US folks have more than 2 kids per family, and India and China among many others definitely need to slow down if not stop with reproduction temporarily. What will technology do to accommodate us - expand the planet? ... You are so confused it's sad.

  8. "How can too much of humanity be a bad thing?"

Many countries are dealing with extreme overpopulation.  Many are dealing with starvation every year because there isn't enough food to go around.

The earth can only support so many people, and we, as humans, are pushing very hard on that limit.

  9. You hold an interesting viewpoint, Carrie.

The US and many Western European countries have had a drop in population increase in recent years. Many have stabilizing or even declining populations, especially Germany and Italy.

On the other hand, countries like Nigeria and Sudan have exponentially increasing populations.

Worldwide, underpopulation isn't a health or economic problem. Economists and epidemiologists don't expect it to become a health/economic problem anytime soon.

The US is doing just fine in terms of population I'd say. But then again, I see no problem when professionals from all over the world get together to solve problems. In fact, it might be good to have more perspectives represented.

I believe that you should do what you want. Have 12 kids if you feel that that would be contributing positively to society. I don't think it could possibly be harmful. Plus, I like kids. =) I would support your decision.

Plus, naming kids is fun. =) Just lemme know if you want my favorite baby names and I'll add them in an edit lol.
