I want work to feel fun/friendly/laid-back, and instead of the cold/distant/businessy attitude, I wish co-workers/bosses can be more friendly and just not take everything SO SO seriously. It's just sad that at the end of the day, it's all so paycheck oriented, work oriented, does such and such belong to a union, the legal matters, the way you get treated,

I just wish it wasn't so cold.

From all of you guys, how is your job? Friendly and laid back (sometimes fun) ? OR,

is it cold/distant/businessy?

  1. Hi Luke,

Actually I have  three part-time jobs:

I work on the Internet & can be in pj's for that matter (I contract for a business company-six years).  I  clean houses for  elderly people to keep them in their homes, we are allowed by the company to dress casually in the summer I can wear shorts, it's friendly type of work, we have group meetings,  I've done this for eighteen years.

Also work at a daycare facility(10 years), on Fridays we are allowed to dress casually, friendly place.  It's quite rewarding, laid back, friendly & fun in all of my jobs.  My bosses are  are friendly but of course it's still a business after all.  Have a good day. :0)

Additional Details: let's face it you want to work where the people are friendly, fun, sometimes get together after work, then you just have to find a company with those kinda benefits  sometimes it's not possible & I'd say it all depends on the career you have. None of my jobs are union related.  Some work places have decided on casual Friday's no  business attire, work-out gyms, business luncheon meetings- atmosphere friendly.

  2. its a shithole the only answer is to leave the country and move somewhere civilised.

  3. I work in the public service sector in a medium stress job.  In the less busy moments we amuse ourselves by having rubber band fights.

  4. I've got a union, management that  hates the union, and it's cold.

But then, I've got a life outside work.
