  1. You must be content with your gas prices or you would whine more.

  2. It effects our entire economy, but I guess business wasn't your strongest subject in school!

  3. There are two things you need to be aware of when comparing prices between America and Europe. One is that gas prices are taxed at a much higher rate in many countries. The basic price isn't that much different. The other factor, when comparing UK  prices, is that their measurement of a gallon is a bit different than ours. So its not really an apples to apples comparison.

And I guess my final comment would be is just because Europeans are willing to accept those prices, doesn't mean we should.

  4. Because the price has more than doubled in the last year, resulting in a rise in the cost of all goods that are transported via trucking, most hurtful being the cost of food.

We do live away from the cities for the sake of the children (education, crime) and drive to the city to work.  We do not have bus systems in mostly rural areas, nor taxi's to call.

Our employment has already been faltering due to outsourcing as well as the gas cost factor.  People are losing their homes due to a complete faltering of the real estate system, thus making the overall economic situation worse.

Our current government refuses to admit we are in a recession.

Many of us have no health insurance.

You really want me to go on and on.  The cost of gas is just one more thing we have to somehow live with and continue to be able to house, feed, and attend to the health of our families.

  5. I understand what you are saying, but you have to keep in mind that not only "was" our gas going up along with that all other prices were going up for everything we buy. It is going down a bit now but the food and consumer goods are still up there.

  6. BECAUSE THE PAY RAISES ARE NOT GOING UP WITH THE PRICES OF GAS...YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER SOME PEOPLE IN AMERICA ARE 6.,55 cents an hour!!

  7. To start with I do not live in Europe and I do not care what they are willing to pay for a product. $3 plus a gallon is to much for a gallon of gas considering what it costs to process it. Take diesel fuel, costs less than gas to process and yet it is now much higher than gas.  The prices are being kept artificially high.

  8. Well because our economy controls the worlds trade and it's economic future. If things get expensive here the whole world will suffer.Wall street, and the Nasdaq, and Dow,can make or break a company, and a country as well if it collapses. The world watches our reaction to the gas and oil prices,it reflects their prices daily, weekly, and monthly.

  9. Because it is a drastic increase in a short period of time. And it has substantially lowered our standard of living since most of us get around by way of our cars. Many people here have SUVs which are gas guzzlers. And now they can barely afford to drive them. I'm just glad my car is small.  Still, with these steady increases, it won't be long before I have to get a job closer to my home and start riding my bike to work!

They're definitely trying to kill us with these gas prices!

  10. because most of the people make minimum wage here all our good paying jobs went out of the country and now people depend on food stamps and flip burgers to survive if there lucky . but some do have good paying jobs and the gas prices affect everything  down to the price of toilet paper because were capitalist society

  11. Because people tend to live within their means, no matter where they live. If you're used to gas prices being $2 per gallon or whatever, you price that into your lifestyle. Same with groceries, rent/mortgage, utilities, entertainment, and so on.

Now if one of these things suddenly shoots up in price within a short space of time, people are understandably going to feel squeezed. If SEVERAL of these things shoot up in price within a short space of time... Houston, we have a problem.

  12. Maybe it's because our technology built the oil fields in the oil producing countries, and now it's "fashionable" to hate Americans and our way of life. I pay $3.49 per gallon while saudis pay $.39 per gallon, and my tax dollars are increasing their quality of life while my own fellow citizens are living in squalor and minimum wage jobs.

Gee, I can't imagine why more and more Americans are beginning to develop a "s***w all foreigners" mentality these days. Americans are getting tired of the "bite the hand that's fed us" (oil producing nations and their people) all these decades.
