Why is Andre Berto's name never mentioned when people talk about possible fights for Cotto?

I see everybody's point. It would just be nice to see a title unification.

Berto is basically a prospect w/ a belt at this point. He's coming into his own, when he  prove's himself a little more they'll eventually get together.

He has decent exposure already had hasn't fought anyone. So down the line if Berto wants the fight. Cotto will give it to him. Up until this point Cotto has turned away from any fights.

i think its maybe a little bit premature for Berto.although he has a title now i think he will have to prove himself a bit first.he is a banger and has great speed but i dont think he has been tested enough to be mentioned with cotto just now

my opinion is cotto wont fight him he in my eyes other than pretty boy holds too much of a challenge for cotto and cotto doesnt want to fight anyone who has a chance of beating him i mean who has cunto fought lately any way some half azz guy from the contender and Judah to people who have no business fighting any more anyway that's why i see it

I think Berto's handlers are doing the right thing by moving him slowly, He is only 24 and will have his time. Cotto did not break through fully until he was 26. Berto will break through soon. If Berto fought Cotto now it would not be good because Berto has not hit his prime and never been really tested. Plus it would not happen because it is not enough money for Cotto.

I know boxing is about fighting the best but it is a business and I know an't no boxer an't fighting if the money is not right....

Berto has talent and potential and is unbeaten but what big name has he fought? none. the welterweight divison is stacked with big names and berto is just arriving on the scene. he'll get his shot once he beats someone the general boxing public has heard of before.

Yeah, I agree with everyone, I would like to see him fight someone along the lines of Quintana, Collazo, Cintron, or any of the other "good" welterweights. However, even if he were to fight him now, I wouldn't be surprised if his handspeed and power caused problems for Cotto, but a few good fights from now, he will REALLY cause problems for Cotto.

Berto is still growing. He's a dam good boxer. Cotto beat judah coming off 2 losses. Cotto beat a overated Quintana. Quintana was undefeated for fight nobody guy's. I give him credit for beating a past prime Mosley. Cotto is undefeated but there's some guy's in this division, has a better boxing game, he haven't face yet and can give him a lost. Cotto 32.0, people like to ride the undefeated band wagon and they will do Berto  the same way.  Berto need to put some top guy's on his resume but his camp is doing a good by take it one step at a time. It's not like Cotto is clearing the division. You still have these guy's out there. The wanted PBF to fight top guy's back to back. Can Cotto handle the pressure of the fans. Now that PBF is retired, Cotto is next in line with out the belt. Berto has the belt and people will be after him.
