Why is Apollo an accurate marksman(archer)?

Both he and his sister Artemis were excellent sportspeople (d**n pc universe.) And the bow was often thought to be a gift from heaven/olympus because unlike a sword, an arrow could be fired from a distance, thus becoming a symbol of the Gods reaching down into the mortal realm (think of Cupid and his bows and arrows of love.)

The bow is also related to the lyre, a musical instrument similar to a harp, but more portable. Mastery over both the bow (athletics) and the lyre (music) made Apollo one of the more well-rounded, visible (partly why he became associated with the sun) and exemplar of the Greek Gods.

He is the god of archery, among other things, but I can't find a myth that explains why. His arrows were said to inflict plagues, which might be related to his being the god of healing as well. His sister, Artemis, is the hunt goddess.

Hard to answer this one I suppose...But I guess I know why they named Apollo ships after this deity; obviously they wanted them to be accurate !
