I've played it before and it is soo hilarious... I just don't get how they do it...

its fun because you don't have to have a special skill to play, just try to find the closest or funniest fit you have to the word being played.  all ages can play, although very young kids should pair up with an adult, they do now have a jr version

This a great game that is best played with medium- to large-sized groups.  It's an "opinion" game so there are no right or wrong answers and it improves with a larger group, there are question cards made specifically for children so they can be integrated in the main game so that the whole family can get in on the act.  Every one is dealt a hand of cards with general "noun" words.  Whoever's turn it is flips a card from a second pile labelled with an "adjective" type word.  Selecting from one's own hand the card that best suits the description is tossed in face down, and once all cards are submitted the person whose turn it is chooses which card they feel is the best of the bunch.  Whoever tossed in the selected winner wins that round and is given a book/point for that round.  Whoever gets the most books in a preset time or reaches the preset limit wins the game.  

It's a fast moving, funny game that encourages discussion and promotes togetherness.  The first time I played it was the first time I'd ever heard of it and I immediately went out to buy it for my own family.  If you could have only ten games in your closet this one is a must!

4) Great choice of nouns and adjectives on the part of the inventors provides amusement and sometimes thought-provoking discussion.

5) Simultaneous play means no one has to endure "down time" waiting for their turn.

6) People can shine even if they don't win a round.

7) Doesn't make anyone look stupid.  If your answer makes no sense, you can always claim your other choices would have been even worse.

8) Different combinations every time you play.  

9) Can be played for as short or long a time as desired.

Think of the games you've played.  The ones you didn't like almost certainly didn't have at least one of the characteristics mentioned above.

It is fun, but shortly after we bought that, we found a Cranium game called Whonu? They are very similar but my friends and family prefer the latter because the competition doesn't get as heated. One person is it and the others pick from their hand of cards which one they think the it person will like best. "It" then puts the cards in order of their favorites and the other players get points according to where theirs ranked. A bonus is that the games' cards can pretty much be used with either game. A plus for Apples is that people who don't know each other can still play.
