Why is Australia not a superpower?

It is a huge country and developed so why aren't they rising rapidly like Brazil, China and so on

  1. Being a superpower has very little to do with geographical size. I have no idea why Australia is not a superpower but it is certainly not similar to China or Brazil. I think the thing that is confusing you is it's size which,a s I said is irrelevant. England was the world's superpower before WWII and it's a tiny island.

    Australia has done well with the people it has, but is #53 in the world, with only 21 million (even Canada has more):

    In the past, its location has also been a factor - it is harder to project power far from home (which is why the U.S. has bases all over the world and want more in the newly interesting places like central Asia.)
