Why is Australia such a boring country....?

In reality, it's far behind nations like the USA, Japan, Britain or Canada. Australians are so patriotic but there is so little to celebrate about..

There's not much to do besides going to the beach or hiking and the place is infested with poisonous creatures...

To me australia seems like a good holiday resort but when it comes to urban living.... other developed nations are far more fun and interesting to live...

  1. if you don't like it here p***off back to where you come from

& if you come from here just p***off!

    problem solved

    everybody will be happy now

  2. It would be interesting to know where you originally  come from.

All I can say is Whingers get out! you are not welcome.

  3. I have lived here my whole life and have never seen a posionous creature.  Sorry, I saw a reef shark that had no teeth once.  I am a surf lifesaver in summer and work in the snowfields in winter so I am exposed to the elements ALL the time.  I don't know any one whose life has been threatened.  And if you think it is a good holiday resort why don't you take a leaf out of my book and live like you are on holidays and be paid for it.  That way I travel and enjoy the best Australia has to offer.

And I think what you mean is we don't have the commercialism the other countries have (24 hour everything) and although we don't have alot of history there is alot we are proud of.  And we are not over the top patriotic - 90% of people don't even know all the words to the national anthem unlike the American performance with hand over heart. We just celebrate different things in a different way that you are used to.  When I visit other countries particularly US, I feel like marketing is shoved into my face constantly - I love coming back and being able to relax.

Finally one thing I think Australia has over nations is our tolerance for difference.  We have no kkk, abortion doctors do not get murdered, g**s are not slandered, different religions are celebrated - all of which exsists elsewhere particularly in US.

From your question and the misconceptions you have it seems you have settled in a surburb and are not really looking at the things that Australia has to offer, you are not accepting the differences from cultures you are used to so, go live there.  It's a free world.

  4. depends what your into mate, im sure there are pros and cons to living in Oz compared with the UK and the USA and such.. not everyone can be happy!

  5. If you don't like it pack up and ship out.I am sure a lot of people would love to trade places with you.Go to Britain,USA or Canada I am sure they are waiting for you with open arms. There are also a number of other countries that might snap you out of your boredom try Burma for instance, they might need your help after all there is nothing to do here.

  6. it is what you make of it. USA is hardly a role model, have a look at their medical system, you should consider yourself lucky in aus.

  7. I agree with you - It's a wonderful Country,  but it lacks something, that vibe you find in other places, it has no 'backbone' and I think  thats because it is so new and doesn't have much history or culture and has so few people, especially in regional towns.

I'm not knocking Australia cos it is truly a great Country but other than the beaches, fishing etc there isn't a great deal to do, thats probably why so many Aussies go over to Europe and stay for so long.

  8. A place is what you make of it.

    I love living in Australia.

  9. Australia is the most fantastic country I have ever been to, the people are lovely and will do anything for you, there is a heck of a lot to do in Australia without going near a beach, I never saw one dangerous creature apart from in a zoo while I was there, the houses are fantastic in Australia, the cost of living is cheaper, I would emigrate there tomorrow if I could.

  10. I think it was said best, when it was said "You're bored because you're boring."

  11. you are a moron.

Every one comes here cos their country is sh*t and ours isn't.

We have a much better life style here then anywhere where else in the world.

    We are free.

Our houses are proper houses not tiny dog boxes u lot live in.

    We don't have smog.

Yes we have dangerous animals here but alteast we don't have suicide bombers here or terrorist.

Your  just jealous u don't live here.

  12. Two Great choices living in Australia, sailing on Sydney Harbour, you can live within 5 minutes of the world best harbour! Or soaking up the sun on the worlds best beaches, in the sunshine coast, or living the highest standard of living in South East Asia-Pacific basin. Don't like it leave! Believe me it kills NYC, San Francisco, LA, London, Oxford as places to live! Been there done that!

  13. What on earth gives you the idea that Australia is behind those other countries? Why do you think that we have a never-ending queue of people from those countries trying to get visas to come and live here?

Everyone is behind Japan in terms of technology, but our lifestyle is streets ahead of theirs. Even wealthy Japanese live in homes that would have trouble fitting into the average Australian living room and they live cheek by jowl with millions of other people. They can buy heaps of consumer goods, but have nowhere to go to relax and get away from it all (without going overseas at least) for their 2 weeks (yes, only two weeks) of annual leave each year.

Americans generally (but admittedly, not always) envy our lifestyle. Our standard of living is similar to theirs and far more people can afford their own homes on their own plot of land. Our educational system is better. Our high school graduates are around 2 years ahead of American HS graduates (and at a younger age) and we have many thousands of American university students studying here because our standards are comparable or better, but the cost (even to overseas students) is far lower than in the US. Our gunshot and other murder rates per capita are something like 4% of theirs and the rates of other crimes are similarly low.

Britain is a joke. Their educational system is in total disarray, their weather is unbearable and they have appalling racial and crime problems. Ordinary people on ordinary wages have far worse trouble than comparable Australians in simply making ends meet. Britain is going backwards economically while Australia has an economy that is the envy of the rest of the world and is surging ahead.

Can't comment on Canada as I know very little about it, but it's probably the best of the bunch you have mentioned.

If you live here, don't ***** about it until you've actually lived overseas as I have and move somewhere else if you are so negative about the best and most liveable country in the world. If you don't live here - stay away, we don't want people like you.

And, please change your nickname - it's offensive to people who know how it is in the real world.

  14. Hello,

(ANS) When people travel to another place in the world they see what they want to see, meaning if you thought Australia was boring then thats YOUR fault nobody else's. Travel is a state of mind, you are responsible for your own experience and if it was boring for you then thats your responsability.

**Its only boring because you closed your mind to other possibilities & experiences. You didn't care to look deeper, perhaps you passively expected experiences to be drip fed to you like a lot of tourists. Rather than looking beyond the more obvious or superficial things that were on offer.

**Australia has an incredible amount of depth & breadth of history if you had done some research before traveling. Australia has totally unique plants, animals, insects, snakes. It has evolved in a totally unique way from any where else on the planet, The native Australian aboriginals are amongst the oldest people on earth & their art & rock paintings are incredible.

The great Barrier reef is also another unique phenomena, Did you know Australia has snow capped mountains & skiing too? It also has Opel mines. Vast salt pans, the Murry Darling River, some of the oldest rock formations in the world. Just to scratch the tip of whats out there.

**I feel so sorry! for you because Australia has such a vast amount on offer and Frankly to say its boring is just staggering in my opinion. How closed minded you must be. YOU missed out BIG TIME!!

    Ivan

  15. why are you such a whinger?

you are free to leave anytime you want

  16. The reason ti has no back bone or history or stuff like that is because the whole population is on the coast theres nothing in the middel.don't get me wrong I love Australia with all my heart ,I love every thing about it espacally all the diffrent types of potato chips compaired to the USA Am I RIGHT!!!!!

  17. Boring to some, interesting and exciting to others.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Personally, I love Australia and don't find living here boring.

  18. umm do you live in australia??

if you do shame on you. if you dont than dont talk **** about our country. nothing is wrong with this beautiful place. who wouldnt want to live by the beach be able to go to it on thr weekendds or in your lunch breaks from working anyway. and hiking umm hmm we dont hike! so not sure where you got that from. we have the most wonderful nature parks in the southern hemisphere with no INFESTED creatures.

    i think your funny!

where are these facts coming from....

  19. man i luv luv luv Australia and this is all i know.. I work hard so that i can explore every possible inch of our gr8 country.. Have travelled around once and i am only 28 and now have 2 little ones we are saving now so that when our kids are old enough we will travel around Oz again so that they too can experience what our fabulous country has to offer.. Whether i am travelling or at home in " urban living" i am thankful i come from a free and wonderful country such as this..

  20. Exactly.

Australians are living in their own "Euphoric" sense of time. It's just that it seems to not be subsiding.

BTW, Kudos on the Question. This section needs abit more variety.

  21. If you don't like it there why don't you immigrate to another country?

Australians are not more patriotic than the US people - I just want to remind you of July 4th, 1776, the Civil war 1861 to 1865 and the Vietnam war.

  22. You need to get a life. Don't just let someone else entertain you, get out and do something. There is so much to see and do in Aus. no-one could do it all in a complete lifetime.

  23. Seems to me you're rather uneducated and don't know anything about Australia. But, its all good, people like you aren't really welcome in Australia.
