Why is BET Black Entertainment Television racist against White people?

I mean what difference does make what the name of the channel is called? For all intents and purposes it's still a Black channel. What so Blacks have to watch White shows or else they're racist? Just because White shows embrace the token minority character doesn't mean that they're not White shows and it's not like everyone on BET is even Black.

BET is not racist. It exists possibly to give entertainment and points of view to the black community who pretty much have been underrepresented (and misrepresented) on most other TV stations. Just my view.

WHY? Because it's a very biased television channel. This channel is rarely portraying Caucasian males,in any prominent positions. This would be considered "racist," if it was a caucasian station(my opinion).WOULD U FEEL IT WAS RACIST?If a Caucasian station, featured a vast majority of programming, with ONLY or mostly Caucasians? Including commercials,and news programming that were exclusively created for Caucasians BY CAUCASIANS? (C.E.T.V.)

Having very, very few minorities,IF ANY, on MOST programs!

BOLDLY having Caucasian "Ms. America," AND White grammy winners. Along with extremely biased and opinionated news programming. With ONLY Caucasians news anchors. Is this racist?? Would this Caucasian channel be accepted, or banned? Would companies buy advertising (commercials),on this station. Or would huge companies be insulted, and afraid to advertise??

Okay I'm really sick of seeing this question. Clearly you do not know the significance behind this channel. BET was created during a time when there were less channels and tv shows that catered to a black audience. When the channel first was created, it did just that. IT showed good hip-hop, R&B, and gospel performances and videos as well as news concerning the African-American community. Shows such as BET nightly news, and teen summit. It didn't shun others, but it did emphasize on blacks more.

That's was the old BET, before the channel got sold to VIACOM(which is a white company). Now, you get BS like college hill, baldwin hills and every movie is murder murder murder. OH AND THAT c**p CALLED RAP!!! That is not rap, that's just s***. Today this style of hip-hop appeals to people of all ethnicities, and you are right, they do sometimes have whites on the channel.

106th and park(one of the few shows I can actually tolerate on this now-monstrosity of a channel) sometimes has white guests, and you see white singers like teena-marie, justin timerlake, and robin thicke on the channel. The channel is not racist. .

No you would not be racist if you created a WET(white entertainment television) channel. IF most channels today catered to mainly blacks, you'd have every right to create that channel and people WOULD actually undertand it, whether they admited it or not. However, there is no NEED for one, because you have MTV, CMT, VH1, HGTV, TLC, FOX, TNT, USA, Lifetime, Comedy Central, Oxygen and an INFINITE amout of other opportunities to see Caucasian people on television.  Oh and at one time there WAS  a WET. It was called THE NASHVILLE NETWORK. Now it's called Spike TV. Good day, my good man.

P.S. over 50% of the blacks in this country can't stand BET anymore than many whites can stand to watch CMT. Why is that? Oh wait I'll TELL you, it is BECAUSE of the negative stereotypes that the channel gives off today concerning blacks, so PLEASE stop using BET as an example of racism. It's really annoying

I think the whole concept of that TV channel is disgusting.  Could you imagine if there was WET?

Some people might complain and say that everything is for white people, but could you imagine if there actually was a channel where the purpose was to specifically target whites?  People would be screaming "racism" like crazy.  Yet for some reason whenever some non-white group is racist, it's fine.

First and foremost BET is not owned by Black people. So if you have beef with name of the network take it up with VIACOM. Second is Telemundo racist against White and Black people? What about Spike TV or Lifetime network? No. These channels are specifically designed to cater to a demographic of people plain and simple. That's why there are 100's of channels.

What I think is that you just want to complain about something and have chose the tired old BET argument to justify your claim of reverse racism. Give it a rest and change the channel.

Wow, you really need a life. Who actually sits around and think about TV Channels and their names? If you don't want to watch BET,  then don't, but it's still going to be their no matter what you did. Go get a life and find a job. If you don't like BET then don't watch it. tired of this question.  but i will say, i began watching cmt because that's where the hot white boys are.  dierks bentley, joe don rooney, brad paisley and (pant, pant) trace adkins.

i didn't even like country 10 years ago.  as a matter of fact, i liked everything BUT country.  now guess what happened?  i'm cured.

and i'm called racist for it.

because i'm brown and i like white music.
