Question:

Why is Boozer on the USA team?

I'm just wondering...he just makes us a smaller team when he comes in, and it's not like hes an athletic freak.

Personally, I would rather have Lamarcus Aldridge or someone like that who is tall, can run the floor well, and can shoot.

What do you guys think? Is Boozer a good fit for team USA?

  1. hes a fundementally sound player

  2. Why is Carlos Boozer in this years team?

In 2004 after Mike Bibby, Jason Kidd, Karl Malone, Tracy Mc Grady and Jermaine O'Neal withdrew from the team because of various reasons they were replced by Carmelo, Wade, Boozer, Odom and Okafor.

"These five guys are the future of USA Basketball I’m disappointed that so many of the guys who helped us qualify for the Olympics last summer in Puerto Rico won’t have the chance for an Olympic gold medal. These are five great additions and based on their seasons they’ve earned the right to be on the team. Last summer’s qualifying team played as a team and I’m confident that this new group will help us continue to play the right way.”  says of then US coach Larry Brown.

    Why was he inserted then?

His game is something we don't have much on that roster — you know, a power forward with an inside post-up game," said Colangelo.

Team US figured Carlos is a pure PF that can help them for the battle of the boards, But with US utilizing speed more than strong muscles I think even Aldridge would get ample time on the floor.

    Hope this helps.

  3. The guy who picked the team was probably drunk. But why would LAMARCUS get onto the U.S. Are you a blazers fan?

  4. He is on the team because he is a center with potential. He isnt no tim duncan or yao ming but he is still a great bball player =D

  5. you shouldve change your question to, WHY IS ALDRIDGE NOT ON THE USA TEAM.

  6. Yeah You're Right They Could Have Found Someone Better

    But The Answer Is

    They Picked Him

  7. yes hes not really athletic. hes likely there for post up moves in case the game gets close and outside shots arent falling. also to sub for howard and bosh. boozer prince and kidd are like the odd men out for this team though they bring in their own kind of talent unlike much the rest of the team who are like speeding and dunking demons.

  8. You're an idiot if you think that the USA basketball team are going to take a player that has already proved himself compare to a "FUTURE all-star"

    Boozer:

    21.1 ppg

    10.4 rbg

    Aldridge:

    17.8 ppg

    7.6 rbg

    'nough said.

  9. its because he is a veteran and he can show these younger guys more help thats why they brang jason kidd in and i would never put lamarcus aldridge in he doesnt have the potential to be a leader like all the guys that are on the usa team the all have a special role

  10. im not a huge fan of boozer but he is a bigger body that we might need.. we could have done better but whatever.. we just have to see what happens

  11. Boozer is there to take the fall when Kobe chokes on a big one. Come on dude you know this!

  12. Stoudemire leaving the team probably had something to do with. I can also guarantee that Coach K pushed for his former player at Duke to make the team.

  13. Just because Deron Williams is..

  14. yes

boozer is proven. what has lamarcus aldridge  done so far in his carrer besides proven he has the POTENTIAL to become a solid nba player?

  15. boozer wouldnt be my first choice either but he is a really solid player. i mean he is a big body inside, which is what the team needs. he has post game so you can throw the ball to him down low. he does have a decent 15-18 foot jumpshot so you can run the pick and roll with him.

boozer is one of the solid post guys in the league. i would not pick lamarcus aldrige because i dont feel he is ready yet. he hasnt proven enough while boozer is a proven all star. i think boozer was a good choice

plus kg and tim duncan declined offers from the team so they had to go with boozer

  16. Boozer is a good fundamental player, and this more than makes up for his lack of athleticism. He's a good inside scorer, an intimidating presence in the lane and an excellent rebounder, kind of like a poor man's Tim Duncan. lol. So, yeah he's a good fit.

  17. Boozer is on the US team for a few reasons.

1.) He is the only bonafide back to the basket offensive threat on the team. Dwight has no post up moves. Bosh is a face up forward. Carmello is too.

2.) He can guard the more powerful power forwards and centres, unlike Chris Bosh who although wonderfully athletic, is not strong enough.

3.) The US olympic team required a 3 year commitment from players and is only available to invitees. LaMarcus has only been in the L for 2 years and does not qualify. He may in future years however.

4.) Boozer has proven in the past that he can compete very well in the international arena. On the losing US teams that he was a part of, he was able to score, rebound and play effectively despite not getting the ball from the posession crazed guards/forwards on those teams.

5.) Tim Duncan was not available.
